THE EXPERIENCE
Throughout the week, we'll gather for Kambo ceremonies alongside nourishing meals, Somatic Experiencing, embodiment practices, medicine music, movement + dance, nature, hot springs, sauna, and community time.
There will also be ample unscheduled space—to rest after Kambo, spend time in nature, journal, connect with someone new, or go inward as you notice what is changing.
You can participate in the full three-session Kambo journey and receive access to the week's community offerings, or choose select experiences à la carte.
THE FOUNDATION OF OUR WEEK
Kambo
Kambo is the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor tree frog and has a long history of traditional use among Indigenous peoples of the Amazon. It contains a complex mixture of biologically active peptides and is traditionally associated with purification, strength, stamina, and preparation for hunting.
Kambo is not psychedelic. Rather than creating a visionary or altered-state experience, the experience is intensely physical and typically relatively brief.
In my years of working with Kambo, I have come to experience it as a medicine that helps clear away some of what we have accumulated—physically, emotionally, and energetically—and brings us back into deeper contact with ourselves. I often think of it as a return to our original blueprint: not making us into someone new, but creating space for more of who we already are to emerge.
THEIR WORDS
“I feel more gentle, more myself and able to be present with people. People have noticed a difference in me.”
Aaron
“After those sessions I was extremely grounded, alert and very open.”
Haley
“AIn the months since the treatments, I've felt more clear and aware... I am gentler toward myself now, and stronger because of that.”
Haley
WHY THREE KOMBO SESSIONS ?
The heart of this retreat is the three-session Kambo journey.
While a single session can be powerful on its own, working with Kambo over three sessions creates an opportunity to experience the power of the process and peptides. Each session is different, and each can build upon the one before it. As you become more familiar with Kambo and your body's response, there can be greater space to settle into the experience and notice what continues to unfold.
Three sessions provide what we consider a meaningful baseline—an arc of receiving, resting, integrating, and returning rather than simply having a one-time experience.
And that is why we've created an entire week around the journey. Between sessions, there is spaciousness to nourish your body, rest, soak in the hot springs, hike, explore embodiment practices, share meals, and connect in community.
For us, Kambo is about more than clearing. It is about creating space to reconnect with what is underneath—to feel clearer, more grounded, more alive, and more connected to the blueprint of who you are.

WHAT TO EXPECT
From a Kambo session
-
Every participant will complete a health screening prior to receiving Kambo. Once you've expressed interest, we'll connect with you individually and send you our comprehensive intake and screening form to make sure Kambo is appropriate for you.
You'll receive detailed preparation instructions, including fasting and hydration guidelines.
Before retreat week, we'll also host a group Zoom orientation where you'll have an opportunity to meet all three practitioners, learn more about the experience, and ask questions.
We'll gather again in person on Friday for our opening gathering, meet-and-greet, and Kambo FAQ.
-
Kambo is administered through small superficial points on the skin called “gates.” The medicine is applied directly to these points, where it is absorbed into the body.
The active portion of the experience is relatively short—often around 20–30 minutes—and may include warmth, an increased awareness of your heartbeat or pulse, nausea, sweating, vomiting, fatigue, emotional release, or other strong physical sensations. Not everyone vomits, and everyone's experience is different.
Your practitioner remains with you throughout the entire process, closely observing how you are responding and supporting you through whatever arises.
-
Once your Kambo session is complete, you'll have plenty of time to rest and integrate. Plan for approximately two hours for your full appointment, including preparation, the active experience, and rest afterward.
A nourishing post-Kambo meal will be provided. Some people feel energized afterward, while others feel tired and want to rest. Either way, we encourage you to keep the remainder of your day spacious, though you'll be able to return to your regular life afterwards.
You'll receive detailed preparation instructions and a complete list of what to bring before your session.
Kambo is the foundation of our week, but the retreat includes much more than the individual sessions.
THE COMMUNITY OFFERINGS
You do not need to receive Kambo to participate in our community offerings. Come for one gathering or join us throughout the week.
The Alchemy of Aliveness
An Introduction to Somatic Experiencing + Emotional AlchemyA gentle, experiential introduction to slowing down and learning to listen to the language of your body, nervous system, and emotions.
Rather than seeing emotions as something to overcome or get rid of, we'll explore how sensations and emotions can become sources of information—helping us understand what we need, what matters to us, and how we want to move forward.
Through Somatic Experiencing and embodied practices, we'll practice feeling enough to stay present without pushing toward catharsis. As we learn to be in relationship with our emotions rather than consumed by them, we can access greater groundedness, clarity, choice, and connection.
This is how we begin to turn our life experiences into wisdom.

IS KAMBO RIGHT FOR ME ?
Kambo is a powerful physiological experience and is not appropriate for everyone.
Before receiving Kambo, every participant will connect with one of our practitioners and complete a comprehensive health screening.
This gives us an opportunity to learn more about you, review any medications or health considerations, answer your questions, and determine whether Kambo is appropriate for you.
About Your Practitioners
Eliza Volk
-
Eliza has worked in the healing arts for more than 15 years, weaving together Somatic Experiencing, embodied coaching, intuitive bodywork, ThaiVedic healing, massage, and yoga. Her path has taken her around the world studying with teachers, masters, and elders, exploring the relationship between the body, nervous system, emotions, nature, community, and spirit.
Eliza began working with Kambo in 2017, supporting a highly experienced practitioner and helping hold space for hundreds of sessions within her Asheville community, including six weeklong Kambo gatherings hosted in her home. These experiences showed her the power of combining individual healing with intentional community. She later completed Kambo practitioner training through Tribal Detox.
Adam Sanchez
-
Adam Sanchez is a US Marine veteran, father, and certified Kambo practitioner whose path has been shaped by service, transformation, and a respect for each other as reverented.
After nearly 14 years in the United States Marine Corps—including service in Infantry, Force Reconnaissance, and MARSOC, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan—Adam’s journey eventually led him toward his healing: a different kind of service.
Along this journey and arriving from the Amazon, came Kambo.
As a Kambo practitioner, Adam approaches the medicine with kindness and reverence for its Amazonian origins, while bringing the steadiness, attention to detail, and responsibility forged through years of military service.
His work is centered on presence, respect, courage, and the belief that some of the most meaningful journeys we undertake are the ones that bring us home to ourselves.
Sarah Beatrice
-
Sarah Beatrice is a Kambo Practitioner and Usui Reiki Master with a deep love for adventure, healing, and exploring what it means to truly feel alive.
Her journey has taken her from thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and trekking to Everest Base Camp, to traveling through 25 countries and every U.S. state except Alaska.
That same adventurous spirit eventually turned inward, leading Sarah into her own healing journey and ultimately to Kambo. She was especially drawn to its grounded, body-based approach and the way it invites us to listen to the wisdom of the body.
Sarah serves Kambo gently and with deep respect for each person’s individual process. Her intention is to create a safe, compassionate space where people can release, reconnect with themselves, and remember their own strength.
